It’s the first of May, the sun is taking the day off work, and the Friday feeling is nowhere to be found (admittedly, because I thought it was Thursday). @bardsbanduk clearly knew this day was coming, and came prepared with a little Mancunian treat for us all- today they released their new single, ‘Barricades’ - catch review live on the site now. The second interview of our ‘Behind the Sceners’ series is now live... today we chat to Manchester based photographer @barnaby_fairley about freelance life in the current crisis, and find out about his incredibly Yorkshire survival plans for the future - ‘Have you ever seen Shaun if the Dead? You don’t see people running from zombies shouting, ‘oh hang on a minute lad, let me just take a quick press shot before you kill me’, do you?’ ————————————————————————

The ‘Behind the Sceners’ interview series - over the past few days, we’ve spoken (via FaceTime!) to some of the people who work behind the scenes in the music industry, who’s day to day work lives have been badly affected by the pandemic sweeping the world. Lots of coverage has been dedicated to bands, artists and venues, but what about the others who are going to find the next few months just as difficult? The photographers, the sound techs, the promoters, the radio gang? As people have asked whether myself + @sofiapanas will be joining the live streaming parties on Instagram (along with some interesting corona song suggestions- Britney Spears - Toxic being my personal fave 💁🏻‍♀️), I think we can all agree it would be 90% chaos, 10% music, as you can see. In conclusion, for the sake of all of you, we won’t put you through it 😂 if things get desperate in a few weeks + and Coronation Street doesn’t come back soon though, we’re open to changing our minds. Here’s an early warning for you to buy earplugs ⚠️

Back in the day, when Freddos cost 10p + coronavirus wasn’t the only word on your TV (so, last week), I chatted to @hushtones_liverpool before their gig at @nightanddaycafe - without doubt one of the loveliest bands I’ve ever spoken to, and it’s a pleasure to say that they were our last gig/band interview before the industry went slightly tits up.
